Johanna Horton Swayze.
Acting on the intelligence, Captain Carter slipped into the swamp with ten men and
caught the outlaws by surprise. One account claims that Swayze and Parr didn9t have flints
in their pistols and couldn9t put up a fight, but whatever the reason, they ran for it and
Carter9s men opened fire. Parr was slightly wounded but Caleb Swayze, Jr. was felled by
